Thistle Fabrication Pty Ltd were successful in winning a rigorous tender process with the northern waters FPSO owner operator for produced water lines fabrication and supplementing their crew with our labour and equipment for the installation
Scope of Work:
Fabrication, welding, dimensional survey of completed spooling, 100% radiographic testing / dyepenetrant inspection of all welds (NDT), hydrostatic testing, pickle / passivation of spool followed by insertion of vapour phase inhibitor and painting of all spools. Thistle were asked to send labour and equipment to assist in the removal of the old produced water lines, the installation of the newly fabricated spooling and supports. This involved cold cutting of the old lines to aid removal due to configuration and dimensions
Demands of minimising production loss on the FPSO meant that the new spooling would be flanged with no hot works or field welds required offshore. Fabrication and welding required tight tolerances on spools with some difficult configurations.
Fabrication outcome was such that no alterations were made to the spooling offshore. Welding carried out achieved a repair rate of less than 1% on over 500 welds.
